THE British Embassy in Washington DC has a site explaining the very British
intricacies of a general election
(http://britain.nyc.ny.us/bis/fsheets/focus/election/election.htm).
This well-organised site is the face of Britain that the government likes to
present to the outside world. It is informative, but only up to a point.
Under the section of the main issues in the general election, for example,
there is no mention of the sleaze that has made much of the running so far.
To find out more about sleaze, turn to the election site of The Guardian,
the newspaper that broke the story about £50 notes being stuffed into
brown paper envelopes (http://www.election.guardian.co.uk/).
