Netropolitan has criticised the British Library (http://ww.bl.uk) for
limiting online access to academic institutions and professional researchers (1
June 1996, p 21) Now its 8.5 million records are open to everyone at
http://opac97.bl.uk/. This includes all books acquired after 1975. The indexes
for books from before 1975 are still being digitised. How could Netropolitan
fail to be impressed, when the index quotes 鈥渘ew scientist鈥 as its example title
search phrase?
