A camcorder that takes pictures in the dark, like a military surveillance
camera, has been developed by Sony. The camera, which will cost $800,
goes on sale in the US in March. It emits a beam of infrared light that reflects
off the subject. The camera viewfinder shows a green monochrome image which the
tape records for conventional playback. Even in a pitch-black room, text is
legible from 3 metres.
