Global positioning system (GPS) devices have dwindled to the size of a
wristwatch. Casio has developed a watch weighing just 148 grams that displays
longitude and latitude anywhere on Earth. The watch is 60 per cent lighter than
existing GPS handheld devices and will tell you how far you are from a
pre-programmed destination and its direction. The as yet unnamed watch has a
small bump on one side which acts as the GPS receiving antenna. A lithium
battery allows 10 hours of continuous use or 600 individual GPS readings. The
watch goes on sale in Japan in the spring, at a hefty $2000.
