A rotor spinning within the leading edge of an aircraft wing will provide
extra lift for short take-off and landing aircraft, says FanWing of London
(GB 2346348). The rotor forces air over the upper surface of the wing to increase
lift. A small flap at the mouth of the fan on each wing controls lift: when
activated, it disrupts the airflow and reduces lift. The pilot can move both
flaps together for climbing and descending, or to bank and turn the
aircraft.
