People with diabetes seem to be protected against migraine

A huge study of the population of Norway has found that people who are being treated for diabetes are less likely to be treated for migraines.

The finding suggests that something about diabetes – or the drugs used to treat it – might offer protection against migraines. “It could give us some insight into the mechanisms of migraine, and in future could improve the treatment of migraine,” says at the University of Bergen in Norway.

A link between diabetes and migraines was suggested back in 1970, when some doctors noticed that people with diabetes seemed less likely to complain…
