I really enjoyed (pictured above) by Kelly and Zach Weinersmith, a hilarious and forthright look at the practicalities of living in space. The science-writing duo argue that enthusiasts have focused so much on the technical challenges that they have overlooked the many biological, psychological and legal barriers to colonising outer space.
For instance, any long-term human colony needs reproduction. But how well does pregnancy work in low gravity? Or sex, for that matter? Or early child development? The Weinersmiths argue that we have no idea. They are opinionated, but always fair. The book should be welcomed by space-dreamers and sceptics alike.
I am also halfway through . The new season features Jodie Foster as a cantankerous police chief in Alaska trying to make sense of the icy death of a group of geoscientists. I expect nightmares until the very end of the mystery.
