This stunning paper illustration was created by award-winning artist Yulia Brodskaya. Yulia’s greatest passion is exploring how to combine illustration and typography in what she calls “papergraphics”. After reading our lead article on how Darwin’s metaphor of the “tree of life” will have to be abandoned, it took her three days to create this illustration for the 24 January 2009 issue. She uses a variant of a crafts method called “quilling”. Yulia was born in Moscow and moved to England in 2004.
Â鶹´«Ã½ is marking the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birthday with a competition.
Feedback invites readers to provide up to 50 words on the thought-provoking theme of: “Things you would never have heard Charles Darwin say about evolution.”
The editors will reward what we judge the wittiest of the nonDarwinisms with a framed original of the beautiful artwork from the Darwin feature from the 24 January 2009 issue of Â鶹´«Ã½ magazine, signed by the artist .
