Video: A chair that converts music into vibration and movement on show in Toronto

A chair that translates music into tactile sensations provides deaf people with a new way to experience music, and could even enliven concerts for those without hearing problems.

Created by Canadian engineers at , Toronto, the chair translates the sound of different instruments or musical notes into movement at varying intensities.

Vibrating coils are embedded throughout the chair to transmit sensations to the skin, while rocking motions and blasts of air are also produced, depending on the music.

The video above shows the chair in use at a recent demonstration of the system in Toronto.
