This month’s photo competition theme leaves you plenty of room for manoeuvre. We want your very best pictures of “scale”.

Whether it’s scales on your snake, scaling a mountain, the limescale in your kettle or a great perspective shot showing a difference in scale, the interpretation of “scale” doesn’t matter. As always we are looking for the best of your creativity: a great photo and an interesting explanation of its relation to science and scale.

The best entry will be published as a Picture of the Day at the start of April.
