Arguably the most important invention in human history, wheels are the theme for this month’s Â鶹´«Ã½ photo competition.

We’ve come a long way since the Mesopotamians first fixed wooden discs to an axle. Now we have cogs, water wheels, flywheels, bike wheels, even nanowheels . So pervasive is the wheel, that walking has been likened to the transfer of weight from corner to corner of a square wheel.

To celebrate how far the wheel has brought us, we want photos that show this fundamental technology in interesting, creative new ways.

The best entry will win £50 of Amazon vouchers and will be announced in early May.

You can keep track of the entries as they roll in by checking out the gallery of submissions. So, get moving and before the end of April.
