A change to commenting

By Jon White and Flora Graham

20 November 2013

Things are changing for the better at Â鶹´«Ã½. This website is moving to a more robust system that will ensure we’re always up, running and ready to deliver the best science and technology coverage.

But change is not easy. As part of the move, our commenting system will stop working today. This isn’t a case of another science publication abandoning comments or a reflection of the quality of the comments we receive – it’s just the knock-on effect of digging below the foundations to rebuild a faster, more responsive website.

We’d like to thank all of our commenters for their intelligent and insightful contributions. We value your ideas and we want to keep hearing them.

Here’s how you can continue the conversation with Â鶹´«Ã½:

  • Send a letter to the editor for publication online and in print on our letters page. Please email us at letters@newscientist.com or contact us by post or phone.
  • Get in touch with comments that are not for publication using our contact form.
  • We hold an open conversation with readers on , where we post links to almost all of our articles and read all the responses.
  • There is an active commenting community on , where we share links to almost every article on our wall. We maintain the Â鶹´«Ã½ house rules here and it’s the best place to visit for conversation between commenters.

When will commenting be back? We don’t have the answer yet. We are researching all the ways to make Â鶹´«Ã½ better for readers and we’re excited about what’s coming. In the meantime, thanks for reading – we couldn’t do it without you.
