Question Everything – the new book from Â鶹´«Ã½

By Mick O'Hare

6 November 2014

Â鶹´«Ã½. Science news and long reads from expert journalists, covering developments in science, technology, health and the environment on the website and the magazine.

If last year we told you to do Nothing, this year Â鶹´«Ã½ is telling you to Question Everything. What makes the Earth rotate? Why are tornadoes cone-shaped? Why is the Large Hadron Collider so, erm, large?

The Last Word column in Â鶹´«Ã½ magazine and online has been posing questions like these since 1994. And now the latest collection, Question Everything, is on sale, following hard on the heels of international bestsellers such as Why Don’t Penguins’ Feet Freeze? and Will We Ever Speak Dolphin?

About the author

Mick O’Hare has been editor of Â鶹´«Ã½‘s Last Word column of questions and answers for two decades (or more than 2000 readers’ queries).

Mick has edited all of Profile’s bestselling Last Word books, including Will We Ever Speak Dolphin?, Do Polar Bears Get Lonely?, Does Anything Eat Wasps? and Why Don’t Penguins’ Feet Freeze? – which received a Nielsen Gold Book for selling more than 500,000 copies of the UK edition. He also edited the related books How to Fossilise your Hamster and How to Make a Tornado.

Because science can answer everything (ultimately) but can be a tad earnest at times, Mick edits sports books and writes as a freelance about any number of trivial things but especially about rugby league. More importantly, he is a lifelong supporter of Huddersfield Rugby League Club.

He has a geology degree but retains a healthy disregard for sedimentology.
