THE GLOBAL Programme on AIDS at the World Health Organization has a
new head. Michael Merson, who has been the director of the WHO’s diarrhoeal
disease control programme since 1984, has been appointed acting director
of the programme following the resignation of Jonathan Mann two weeks ago
(This Week, last issue). He will take over when Mann goes in June.
