Policy promised

7 March 1992

This year’s annual review of research and development funded by the
British government will for the first time include a summary which lays
out the government’s policy.

‘The government of the day will decide what its policy is, and we would
hope to capture that in the summary,’ said Bill Stewart, the chief scientific
adviser at the Cabinet Office.

Stewart, in evidence to the House of Lords Select Committee on Science
and Technology, said: ‘We hope to put the survey on forward strategy at
the front of this year’s annual review.’
