Japan is to host an international centre promoting the transfer of environmentally-sound
technologies to developing countries. The UN Environment Programme is to
finance the centre through its Environment Fund. The Japanese government
has already made a voluntary donation of $2.3 million towards the centre,
which will have offices in Osaka and in Shiga prefecture.
