Letters: Jet circles

By Michael Sewell

Recent reports of damage to roof tiles near Heathrow by vortex strikes
created by low flying 747s suggest a controlled experiment which might commend
itself to believers in natural crop circles: fly a 747 into an airfield
with corn fields at the end of the runway.

The scale may be different from vortices created by hills – but Mandelbrot
sets repeat at all scales.
