Michael Redhead, a historian of science at the University of Cambridge, specialises in the philosophy of quantum mechanics – not, you might think, the cutting edge of science. Redhead belittles himself when, characterising his ideas as conventional, he describes himself as a “Cantabrigian dinosaur”.
