There is nothing that is more gruesomely absorbing than footage of an air
disaster. And nothing more moving than the voice cockpit recording of an air
crew silenced by the impact with the ground. Or more heroic than the tale of
someone who survived against all the odds. Perhaps that is why Channel 4’s Black
Box, a short series on air disasters shown last year, was so successful. Anybody
