Review : Elliptical talk

16 August 1997

Like snooker on the radio, Fermat’s Last Theorem as an audiobook is a
bizarre idea. Still, Simon Singh’s three-hour story of history’s greatest
mathematical puzzle works fine as a celebration of human endeavour. But without
visuals, talk of complex numbers, elliptical equations and modular forms might
have you reaching for the fast-forward button. Published by HarperCollins Audio,
£8.99, ISBN 0001054635.
