Reflected glory

30 August 1997

A 3D display that allows car designers to generate hologram-like images is
being developed at the University of Strathclyde (UK 2 307 373).

A rapidly scanning laser projects the computer image onto a screen that moves
backwards and forwards to give the image real depth. If the screen is replaced
by a mirror, the image appears to hang in space.
