The best bits

IBM is planning to put video browsing on the World Wide Web (EP 782 085). The
technology will allow servers to store a video sequence as a series of still
pictures. Someone browsing the Web page will see a mosaic of thumbnail stills.
By selecting a “start” and “end” still, users can download the sequence they are
interested in. This removes the need to download an entire movie in order to see
only a few key scenes. The system is likely to be used for education.
