Paramedics at medical emergencies will soon have instant access to important
medical details of patients, such as blood group, allergies or organ donation
details. Presmatec, a company based at Mervelier in Switzerland, has developed a
coin-shaped microchip that stores such details and is small enough to wear on
the back of a wristwatch or on a wristband. Rene Studer of Presmatec says the
chip is coded in the world’s five commonest languages. “We hope to launch it
next May,” he says.
