Fact finding in World Book 1998 Multimedia Encyclopedia is harder work than
it ought be. Type “DNA” into the topic-search box and you get a dictionary
definition, plus an article about genetic profiling. If it’s the double helix
you’re after, you’ll have to enter “chromosome” or “nucleic acid”. Some nice
video clips, but the articles are pretty laboured. Disappointing by current
standards for CD-ROM encyclopedias. Published by IBM World Books,
£39.99/$79.95, ISBN 0716684357.
