A craft that can deliver cargo or troops after being dropped from an aircraft
is being developed by the US Army and USBI, a division of Pratt & Whitney.
When dropped, the “Sky Barge” has wings that snap into position on either side
of a small fuselage pod. The hang-glider-like craft can quietly travel distances
of up to 50 kilometres, guided by a small engine and a global positioning
system, before parachuting the pod to its destination.
