Thai embryologists plan to clone a prized white elephant ridden by King Rama
III, who ruled Thailand between 1824 and 1851. Chisanu Tiyacharoensri and his
colleagues at Mahidol University in Bangkok aim to clone the beast from
fragments preserved in alcohol. “We hope to use the white skin,” says
Tiyacharoensri, who plans seek permission to use the tissue from the current
king.
