A Canadian farmer accused by agribiotech giant Monsanto of growing its
herbicide-resistant oilseed rape without a licence is hitting back. Percy
Schmeiser of Bruno, Saskatchewan, has filed a countersuit claiming damages from
the company for allowing his land to become contaminated with genetically
modified seed. Schmeiser maintains that the modified crop spread onto his land
without any help from him and cost him tens of thousands of dollars in lower
yields.
