More from the perpetual motion machine dept: Mario Cavalheiro of Brazil is
patenting (GB 2 341 209) a machine of tortuous complexity with an inclined pipe
that channels water onto the vanes of a turbine, which generates electricity.
This powers electric motors that alter the position of balancing weights to tilt
an arm which empties cylinders and draws water up to the pipe again. Energy
consumption is “at most 10 per cent for an output of 90 per cent” says the
inventor optimistically, adding that to generate more power it is only necessary
to use more cylinders.
