An orbiting rust bucket long past its use-by date: that, at least, is how some see Mir, and NASA has certainly washed its hands of the aged Russian space station. But Jeffrey Manber, president of the company that has come up with the money to keep Mir in space, sees it as a fantastic symbol of the new world order-and a canny investment.
