Phone home

By Barry Fox

15 July 2000

Clive Tickner of London has an idea (GB 2 342 534) that could save parents
money. Many parents want their kids to have a cellphone for emergencies, but
then have to foot their offspring’s huge bills for phoning and “texting”
friends. The new phone would be pre-programmed to call, and receive from, only
one telephone number. This would usually be the child’s home number, registered
at the time of purchase. The phone is also then useless to any third party or
thief.
