Self-dialling fax

By Barry Fox

22 July 2000

Sentec of Cambridge has invented (GB 2 342 531) a neat way of automatically
dialling a fax number. You compose the fax with a word processor that includes
special software. This converts the destination fax number into a bar code that
is printed at the top of the first page. A new type of fax machine will have a
small scanner positioned ahead of the main image scanner. When paper is fed into
the machine, the small scanner reads the bar code and feeds the number to the
auto dialler.
