France should expect several dozen cases of vCJD, the human disease linked to
BSE, health minister Dominique Gillot said this week. The number of BSE cases in
France has surged this year, and France and Switzerland may ban meat in all
animal feed, after the Swiss found two cows with BSE born after they banned meat
in cattle feed in 1996. French farmers say they will not accept
American rapeseed as a substitute, as it may be genetically modified.
