Researchers at De Montfort University in Leicester have devised a system that
bespoke tailors can use to measure up their customers (WO 00/55644). The subject
stands in front of an infrared camera that’s surrounded by 60 ultrasound
transmitters. The camera forms a 2D thermal image of the body. At the same time,
the pencil-thin ultrasound beams are reflected first from the front of the
clothing, then the body surface, then the far side of the body and finally the
