IT’S taken more than ten years, $4 million and a whole team of
historical and archaeological researchers to put this atlas together. And it’s
been worth the effort. Previously, bits and pieces of the Roman Empire have been
given their own detailed scholarly maps (the Ordnance Survey Map of Roman
Britain, for example), but this is the first successful attempt to show the
whole Graeco-Roman world.
