Touchscreen drive-in

By Barry Fox

Drive-in banks and burger joints save effort—but you still have to open
the car window long enough to ruin the air conditioning or let thieves snatch
your wallet. Now NCR of Dayton, Ohio, has a way of minimising the time the
window stays open (GB 2350457). A projector beams an image of an ATM keyboard,
or burger menu, down onto your windscreen. You simply point at the options and
an infrared sensor registers your choice. Then you need only open the window
briefly to grab your cash or food.
