Attitudes towards genetically modified food seem to be softening in Britain.
An opinion poll found that 48 per cent of people would knowingly eat GM food and
only 44 per cent said they would not. A year ago, 50 per cent of people said
they would not. Meanwhile, a survey carried out last month in the US—where
GM crops have been adopted most enthusiastically—found that more than half
of Americans do not want to eat GM food. Only 20 per cent realise they are
eating it already.
