Remote control

By Barry Fox

Roke Manor Research wants to use the Internet to turn your door bell into an
answering service (GB 2354394). When someone comes to the door while you’re out,
a loudspeaker tells your visitor that they can leave a message while a video
camera records them. A personal computer or WAP cellphone downloads the video
message to your homepage. You pick up your message by tapping in a password and
logging onto your homepage. Should you be online at the time of a call, you can
even talk back to the caller in real time.
