Only reconnect

By Barry Fox

28 July 2001

Ericsson hopes its new cellphone will mean users won’t have to redial when
they lose their connection (WO 01/33891). When it makes a call, the mobile
memorises the connection details for all the base stations in its area. If the
call drops, it automatically tries to reconnect to the same station. If that
fails, it tries another station within range. So you’re promptly reconnected,
without redialling.
