Twitchers will soon be able to show fellow birdwatchers what rare birds
they’ve seen—using binoculars which can record and replay video (W0
01/52531). Jack and Steven Hammack of Washington state propose binoculars with
image sensors inside them that send moving pictures to a memory chip. Pictures
can then be replayed through the eyepieces. By heavily compressing the video you
can store a minute or so of motion on a cheap memory card, for instant
replay.
