COULD eating a bacon butty for breakfast boost your brainpower? A new study
hints that it might, although scientists can’t yet explain their result.

A team at the University of Reading gave 50 primary-school children set
breakfasts for a month and tested their IQs before, during and after the test
period. They found that orange juice and toast significantly improved kids’ IQs,
supporting the idea that vitamin C boosts intelligence.

But surprisingly, the next biggest improvement was for children eating bacon
sandwiches. Scores for kids who ate cereal or eggs were actually worse, but the
researchers are not sure why.…
