While iris-recognition systems provide pretty secure biometric IDs, Iridian
of New Jersey says your stored iris data is a target for high-tech thieves
(WO 01/63994). If anyone steals your iris scan they could use it to hack into a
security system. So Iridian places the memory chips storing iris scan in a
two-part metal box, sealed with a conductive gasket that touches electrical
contacts on either side of the box lid. Any unauthorised attempt to open the box
and steal the chips separates the contacts, triggering a circuit that erases
everything on them.
