Debate on a plate

By Barry Fox

22 December 2001

Conversation-stimulating crockery will liven up mealtime conversations this
Christmas, says Kaleidacolor of Nashville, Tennessee (WO 01/70354). It proposes
crockery and place mats decorated with “open-ended” questions—no grunted
“yes” or “no” answers allowed. Questions are revealed as you eat the food on
your plate, or perhaps by looking underneath your place mat. Diners,
Kaleidacolor suggests, will be confronted with conversational gambits like:
“Which relative makes you want to run for cover?” or “What did you do to receive
the most memorable punishment of your life?” We can’t wait.
