Thin end of the wedge

By Barry Fox

16 February 2002

Drink can ring-pulls often lie stubbornly flat on the top of the top of the
can, defying all efforts to prise them up with a fingernail. In GB 2361224, Paul
Clayton of Lichfield has come up with a simple device to make life easier: a
miniature wedge you’d keep on a key ring. You simply push the thin end of the
wedge under the flat ring-pull until the notch mates with the ring-pull’s
holding rivet. Strategically placed hooks then engage with the edge of the
ring-pull, letting you lever it up.
