Pee at the target, dear

By Barry Fox

30 March 2002

Toilet-training is not exactly the best part of bringing up a child—but technology can help. Andrew and Jacqueline Kopec of Derbyshire want to help toilet-train boys by encouraging them to pee at a target spot (GB 2363397). Their plastic bullseye sticker impregnated with temperature-sensitive pigment is stuck to the rear surface of a loo bowl. When the child is aiming accurately, the warm urine changes the dye colour to signal an accurate hit.
