Can't sing? then change your tune…

THERE’S nothing harder on the ear than an amateur crooner struggling to sing karaoke in a difficult key, but a new type of karaoke machine could make even the most tone-deaf songster sound angelic. The trick is to change the tune to match their awfulness.

Developed by Japanese company Taito, which makes karaoke machines, the new device monitors the singer and automatically adjusts the key and tempo of the musical accompaniment to suit them. Future versions may even correct dodgy notes to make them sound in tune, without otherwise altering the performance. The machine will even rate singers’ abilities by…
