Dysfunctional droid

4 May 2002

Doh! A robot whose entire purpose in life is to mimic cartoon slob Homer Simpson is the latest creation of engineering student Don Lair at the University of Florida. The robot moves around in front of a TV, channel hopping when it gets bored. The pace of image changes is the trigger—too slow, and Homer zaps it. The dysfunctional droid also intermittently belts out trademark Homer soundbites such as “Mmmm… forbidden donuts.”
