The next generation of cellphones will be more like tiny computers than dumb telephones—so a 3G phone could be disabled by a computer virus. But limited memory means users won’t want to waste space on anti-virus software, says security firm F-secure of Finland. It proposes pre-loading all phones with anti-virus software in an area of reserved memory, alongside a library of software “traps” for known viruses (GB 2368233).
