A new strain of cholera has been on the rampage along the coasts of the US and Japan. Identified by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta with the help of India’s National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, the strain spreads in inadequately cooked seafood.

A man in the Kalmykia region has become the country’s first anthrax victim this year. He contracted the skin form of the disease from an infected cow. Around a dozen people in Russia get anthrax each year.
