A parachute saved a light aircraft from disaster for the first time last week. When one of the ailerons on a Cirrus SR22 fell off, the pilot deployed the single-prop plane’s novel built-in rescue parachute, bringing it to an injury-free crash landing in a clump of trees near Addison, Texas. The pilot was unhurt.
