Comets to come thick and fast for next two years

A NEWLY discovered comet called Kudo-Fujikawa may offer skygazers a treat later this month by brightening enough to be spotted with the naked eye. And it’s just the first in a rare parade of celestial visitors.

Kudo-Fujikawa was discovered by two amateur astronomers in Japan in early December. It will reach its closest point to the Sun, the perihelion, on 28 January, but should put on the best show for northern-hemisphere viewers a week or so before that.
